Gicumbi District Concludes Three-Day Expo to Showcase Development Achievements
Gicumbi District on Friday officially concluded a three-day Exhibition and Trade Fair that brought together exhibitors, entrepreneurs, cooperatives, government institutions, and development partners to showcase the district’s development achievements and promote local businesses.
The exhibition, held from July 8 to July 10, was organized to display the progress made by the district over the past year, while creating a platform for exhibitors to market their products and services, share experiences, and strengthen partnerships that contribute to improving the welfare of citizens.
Speaking after the event, exhibitor Umwiza Noella described the exhibition as a valuable opportunity despite its short duration.
“Although the exhibition lasted only three days, it has been very important for us. We managed to sell our products, introduce our business to many visitors, and meet potential customers and partners. We are confident that these new connections will help us grow our business in the future,” she said.

Closing the exhibition, Gicumbi District Mayor Emmanuel Nzabonimpa said the achievements displayed during the event demonstrate the impact of government investment and the strong partnership between public institutions, development partners, and citizens.
“What we have seen during this exhibition is clear evidence that the national budget is being used to improve the lives of our people. Through collaboration, we continue to build schools, health centres, roads, expand access to clean water and electricity, and improve agriculture and livestock production,” the Mayor said.He also urged residents to embrace values that support sustainable development, including hard work, self-reliance, responsible use of opportunities, environmental cleanliness, protecting public infrastructure, preserving development gains, subscribing to community-based health insurance, using improved cooking energy, living peacefully with others, embracing technology, and avoiding settlements in high-risk areas.
The Mayor further encouraged citizens to remain united and committed to building the country under the national vision of putting “the citizen at the center of development.
The Chairperson of the Joint Action Development Forum (JDAF) in Gicumbi welcomed the success of the exhibition, noting that it attracted about 100 exhibitors as well as visitors from different parts of the country.
He said the event offered exhibitors an opportunity to sell and promote their products and services, expand their business networks, and exchange ideas with other entrepreneurs. He encouraged more residents to participate in future exhibitions to increase the visibility of their businesses and contribute to the district’s economic development.
The exhibition ended with participants expressing optimism that the partnerships created during the three-day event will continue to support entrepreneurship, innovation, and inclusive development in Gicumbi District.
