RNIT Marks 10 Years with Over Rwf145 Billion Mobilized and 350,000 Investors

Rwanda National Investment Trust Ltd (RNIT), the company managing the RNIT Iterambere Fund, has celebrated a decade of operations, highlighting remarkable growth that has positioned it among the key pillars of Rwanda’s capital market.

Launched in 2016 to promote a culture of saving and collective investment among Rwandans, RNIT has mobilized more than Rwf145 billion over the past ten years while attracting over 350,000 investors, reflecting increasing public confidence in long-term investment.
The milestone was marked on Sunday, July 12, 2026, during the Fund’s 10th anniversary celebration, where RNIT also unveiled its next phase of growth centered on expanding digital investment services to reach more Rwandans.

According to figures released during the event, the Fund’s Assets Under Management (AUM) have grown to more than Rwf86 billion, up from less than Rwf1 billion in its first year of operation.
Since its establishment, RNIT has opened more than 90,000 investment accounts, representing over 350,000 unit holders, including individuals, cooperatives, associations, students, youth groups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and other institutional investors.
The Fund continued to record strong growth in 2025 alone, opening more than 40,000 new accounts, a development RNIT says demonstrates growing awareness among Rwandans of the importance of saving and investing through collective investment schemes.
RNIT has also maintained impressive financial performance, delivering an average annual return of over 11 percent.

During the same period, the value of one investment unit increased from Rwf100 in 2016 to nearly Rwf274 in 2026. Funds mobilized in 2025 reached Rwf59 billion, the highest annual amount since the Fund was established.

Speaking during the anniversary celebration, Jonathan Gatera, Chief Executive Officer of RNIT Ltd, attributed the Fund’s achievements to the trust and confidence shown by investors.
“The achievements of the RNIT Iterambere Fund over the past ten years are a result of the confidence that investors have placed in us. We have demonstrated that consistent saving and prudent investment management can help citizens build a better financial future while contributing to Rwanda’s economic development,” Gatera said.

He added that the company’s next strategic priority is to leverage digital technology to make investment services more accessible and convenient for a wider population.

“Our focus for the coming years is to expand technology-driven investment services so that more Rwandans can invest easily, regardless of where they are,” he noted.

Romeo Ngarambe, Chief Executive Officer of the Capital Market Authority (CMA), reaffirmed the regulator’s commitment to strengthening investor protection and supporting the continued development of Rwanda’s capital market.
“We will continue strengthening the legal and regulatory framework that safeguards investors while intensifying financial literacy campaigns. Special attention will be given to first-time investors and people with limited financial resources so they can better understand investment opportunities and make informed financial decisions,” Ngarambe said.

Looking ahead, RNIT plans to significantly increase the number of investors over the next decade by expanding digital services, introducing new investment products, and enhancing financial education across the country. The company believes these initiatives will encourage broader public participation in investment and contribute to Rwanda’s long-term economic growth.
